Product Description

Quantifoil R1/4 Holey Carbon Films - Circular

Quantifoils®, produced by semiconductor lithographic techniques, are 15 - 20nm thick perforated carbon films with precise, well defined holesizes, shapes and arrays. Quantifoil support films provide a high percentage of open area in addition to minimising total specimen thickness. Object distortions arising from interactions with the support film are also reduced. They are particularly suited for cryo applications, tomography and low dose microscopy (LEEP).

Circular hole, size 1µm dia, separation 4µm, pitch 5µm.

Quantifoil type: R1/4

Quantifoils are supplied as 10 grids in a grid box.

Exceptional Precision for High-Resolution TEM

Quantifoil R1/4 grids guarantee reproducibility and stability for transmission electron microscopy applications. Their regular hole arrays ensure even sample distribution, minimizing variability and improving data reliability for single particle and tomography analyses.

Superior Cryo-EM Compatibility

Specially optimized for cryo-electron microscopy, these holey carbon films enable efficient vitrification and robust sample support. Researchers benefit from minimal charging artifacts and a stable imaging platform for high-resolution structural studies.

Reliable Quality from Trusted Suppliers

Available from dealers, producers, exporters, importers, manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, traders, and wholesalers throughout the United Kingdom, users can expect consistent quality and swift delivery for both academic and industrial research needs.

FAQs of Quantifoil R1/4 Holey Carbon Films - Circular:

Q: How are Quantifoil R1/4 Holey Carbon Films used in cryo-EM sample preparation?

A: These films facilitate the even distribution of biological samples on the grid, supporting vitrification and minimizing sample movement. Their regular hole array enables researchers to capture high-resolution images essential for structural determination in cryo-electron microscopy.

Q: What benefits does the 1.0 m hole diameter provide for TEM applications?

A: The 1.0 m hole size allows for optimal electron transmission while maintaining mechanical stability. This feature enhances imaging clarity and supports high-resolution analysis for both single particle and tomography studies.

Q: When should I choose Quantifoil R1/4 grids over other films for my microscopy work?

A: Quantifoil R1/4 grids are the preferred choice when consistent hole spacing and high imaging reproducibility are required, particularly for advanced studies in single particle analysis and tomography using TEM or cryo-EM.

Q: Where can I purchase Quantifoil R1/4 Holey Carbon Films in the United Kingdom?

A: These grids are widely distributed by dealers, manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, wholesalers, and traders throughout the UK. Many research supply companies offer local stock and rapid delivery options.

Q: What is the process for using Quantifoil R1/4 grids in a typical TEM workflow?

A: Samples are deposited onto the carbon film surface, with the regular grid pattern aiding in localization and imaging. The copper grid supports the film during insertion into the TEM, providing a sturdy and reliable platform for routine and advanced studies.

Q: What is the advantage of the amorphous carbon coating in these films?

A: Amorphous carbon provides a uniform, inert, and highly transparent surface, reducing charging effects and enhancing sample stability. This improves image contrast and reliability during electron microscopy.

Q: What makes Quantifoil R1/4 grids suitable for single particle analysis and tomography?

A: The precisely manufactured regular hole array ensures reproducible sampling locations and facilitates computational reconstruction for both single particles and tomographic datasets, making these grids ideal for advanced EM applications.
