Product Description

Lacey carbon films are similar to the holey carbon films in that they have open areas but because of the fine lacey mesh structure they offer a greater percentage of open area in comparison (see micrograph). They provide the thinnest possible support film while maintaining adequate strength and give practically no background interference in the TEM. As much of the specimen is unsupported, these films are appropriate for use where a structure free background is of importance. Lacey carbon films are particularly suitable for studying some nanotubes, acicular crystals and biological/materials specimens.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.

Lacey carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request.

Versatile Support for High-Resolution TEM

These lacey carbon films on copper grids are specifically designed for analytical and research needs, enabling superior imaging of fine structures in samples across biological, nanotechnology, and material science disciplines. The irregular, perforated carbon layer allows for enhanced sample visibility and minimal interference during observation.

Exceptional Purity and Durability

Manufactured with 99.99% pure carbon film and 99.9% pure copper mesh, these grids offer chemical stability and reliability for extended use. Their exceptional purity means reduced contamination in sensitive samples, while their robust build meets international electron microscopy standards.

Reliable and Long-Term Storage

These TEM grids feature indefinite shelf life when stored under recommended ambient, dry conditions in a clean microgrid box. Their non-toxic and odorless nature supports both safe handling and long-term usability without risk of degradation under standard laboratory environments.

FAQs of Lacey Carbon Films on 300 Mesh Copper Grids (Pack of 50):

Q: How should I handle Lacey Carbon Films on 300 Mesh Copper Grids to prevent damage?

A: These grids must be handled with antistatic tweezers because the lacey carbon film is extremely fragile. Avoid touching the film surface directly and keep them in a clean, dry microgrid storage box when not in use.

Q: What applications are suitable for these TEM support grids?

A: These grids are compatible with transmission electron microscopy applications involving biological samples, materials science investigations, and nanotechnology research. Their lacey carbon design is ideal for studying ultrafine particle structures and suspensions.

Q: When is it necessary to use a lacey carbon film support grid in microscopy?

A: Use these grids whenever you need to observe ultrathin specimens or particles with minimal background interference. Their irregular, perforated holes enable clear imaging, especially essential for high-resolution analytical and research tasks.

Q: Where should I store these grids to maintain their integrity?

A: Store the grids in a clean, dry microgrid box at ambient room temperature. Proper storage under these conditions ensures indefinite shelf life and preserves film quality for future TEM applications.

Q: What is the primary benefit of using lacey carbon films over standard films?

A: The lacey carbon film provides enhanced sample visibility and stability due to its irregular perforations and ultra-thin design. This structure reduces background noise and supports clear, high-resolution imaging of fine structures compared to continuous carbon films.

Q: How does the purity of the carbon film and copper grid impact TEM results?

A: High purity (99.99% carbon, 99.9% copper) minimizes sample contamination during microscopy, ensuring accurate analytical results and reproducibility, which is critical for research and quality assurance.

Q: Can these grids be reused after TEM imaging?

A: While the copper mesh may withstand multiple uses, the lacey carbon film is delicate and typically intended for single-use applications to prevent structural compromise and ensure clean background for each analysis.
