Product Description

Ultraprep Diamond Lapping Films

Ultraprep lapping films offer an alternative to diamond impregnated cloths where uniform material removal and surface flatness are essential. They are ideal for use with microelectronic devices, ceramics and optical fibres, and are recommended for use with the tripod polisher. For the best results, the films should be used with glass or cast iron platens. Films are 203mm in diameter.

Supplied in packs of 5. A mixed pack is available comprising one sheet each of 15, 9, 6, 3 and 1m films.

Precision Performance for Demanding Applications

Ultraprep Diamond Lapping Films deliver unmatched uniformity in abrasive coating, ensuring precise surface finish and consistent results for industries requiring tight tolerances. From materials research to high-end electronics and optical polishing, our films enhance efficiency and repeatability for both routine and advanced finishing tasks.

Multiple Grit Sizes, Custom Sizing Available

Choose from a comprehensive range of grit sizes0.1 m to 30 meach identified with distinct color coding for easy selection and workflow integration. Standard dimensions include 8" x 11" sheets and 8" diameter discs, with custom sizes available to meet specialized requirements. Accurate cutting tolerances ensure optimal fit for your equipment.

FAQs of Ultraprep Diamond Lapping Films:

Q: How should Ultraprep Diamond Lapping Films be applied for optimal results?

A: Apply Ultraprep Diamond Lapping Films onto a flat surface or backing plate, ensuring that the film adheres evenly. For adhesive-backed options, simply peel and press. Use with water or a compatible lubricant during lapping and polishing processes to achieve a consistent scratch pattern and uniform surface finish.

Q: What are the typical applications for these diamond lapping films?

A: These films are widely used in precision lapping, polishing, and sample preparation within materials research, electronics manufacturing, optics, and quality laboratories. Their consistent abrasive properties make them ideal for finishing hard materials like ceramics, semiconductors, and metals.

Q: When should I choose a particular grit size?

A: Grit size should correspond to the desired surface finish and material hardness. Use coarser grits, such as 15 m or 30 m, for initial material removal, then progressively finer grits (down to 0.1 m) for smoothing and polishing to mirror-like finishes. Refer to the color-coded system for quick identification.

Q: Where are Ultraprep Diamond Lapping Films manufactured and supplied from?

A: Ultraprep Diamond Lapping Films are available through a network of dealers, exporters, manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers across the United Kingdom and internationally, ensuring prompt and reliable delivery for diverse industrial needs.

Q: What storage conditions are recommended for maintaining product quality?

A: Store the films in their original, moisture-proof envelopes within a cool, dry place. When kept under these conditions, the product retains optimal performance and has a shelf life of up to five years.

Q: What are the benefits of using Ultraprep Diamond Lapping Films over conventional abrasives?

A: These films provide superior durability, a uniform abrasive surface, and high resistance to wear and tear, resulting in longer working life and more consistent finishes. The high-purity synthetic diamond ensures effectiveness across a wide range of materials without contamination.
