Product Description

These cryo grid boxes are used for transferring, storing and manipulating vitrified cryo TEM specimens made with cryo devices like the FEI Vitrobot, Gatan 626 or Gatan CT3500 cryotransfer systems and other cryovitrification processes. There are two versions, each with four storage positions. The round box is the most widely used and is available with or without a non-static rotatable lid. The square cryo TEM grid box includes a non-static rotatable lid. All of the boxes have a 5/40 thread in the centre. On versions with lids, the lid is held in place with a stainless steel screw.

Handling rods are available for the cryo grid boxes.

Secure Grid Storage for Cryo-EM Applications

Engineered to maintain the safety and integrity of precious electron microscopy samples, these grid boxes are essential for researchers requiring reliable storage in extreme conditions. The secure screw cap and O-ring eliminate moisture intrusion, while clear 1-to-4 slot numbering facilitates straightforward sample management.

Laboratory-Grade Durability and Versatility

Fabricated from robust plastic materials, the cryo grid boxes are autoclavable, reusable, and resistant to chemicals, making them ideal for ongoing laboratory use. Their compatibility with multiple grid handling systems streamlines integration into varied research workflows.

FAQs of Cryo TEM grid boxes:

Q: How should I store and use the Cryo TEM grid box to ensure maximum sample protection?

A: Store the grid box at room temperature away from direct sunlight when not in use. During operation, the box can be placed in cryogenic environments, including liquid nitrogen, to protect TEM grids. Its moisture-sealed lid and numbered slots help secure and organize your samples effectively.

Q: What makes these grid boxes suitable for use in cryogenic applications?

A: Manufactured from high-grade polypropylene or polycarbonate, the boxes withstand extreme, low temperatures required for cryo-electron microscopy. The O-ring sealed screw cap further guards against moisture ingress, ensuring sample integrity even under subzero conditions.

Q: When is it appropriate to autoclave the Cryo TEM grid box, and how does this benefit my workflow?

A: You should autoclave the grid box before use or after each experiment to ensure sterility, particularly when working with sensitive biological samples. Their autoclavable nature supports repeated use, reducing cross-contamination risks and enhancing laboratory efficiency.

Q: Where can these grid boxes be integrated within typical laboratory processes?

A: These boxes fit seamlessly with standard TEM grid cassettes and autoloader systems, supporting sample storage, transfer, and loading in both research and clinical laboratories. They are compatible with major workflow systems used in cryo-EM sample preparation and imaging.

Q: What distinguishes the Cryo TEM grid box from other storage solutions in terms of user convenience?

A: Each slot in the grid box is distinctly numbered (14), simplifying sample identification. The screw cap with an O-ring ensures easy access while maintaining a secure, moisture-free environment. Reusability and compatibility with existing lab infrastructure provide both flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

Q: How does using this product benefit researchers involved in cryo-electron microscopy?

A: The grid box streamlines the process of handling and organizing delicate TEM grids, reducing the risk of sample loss or contamination. Its robust construction and design features make it a practical, reliable addition to any laboratory focusing on advanced microscopy techniques.
