Product Description

Lacey carbon films are similar to the holey carbon films in that they have open areas but because of the fine lacey mesh structure they offer a greater percentage of open area in comparison (see micrograph). They provide the thinnest possible support film while maintaining adequate strength and give practically no background interference in the TEM. As much of the specimen is unsupported, these films are appropriate for use where a structure free background is of importance. Lacey carbon films are particularly suitable for studying some nanotubes, acicular crystals and biological/materials specimens.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.
Lacey carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request.

Unmatched Transparency for Superior TEM Imaging

Lacey Carbon Films on 400 Mesh Gold grids are crafted with high transparency and minimal electron absorption, delivering optimal clarity for electron microscopy. Their lacey mesh-like structure reduces background interference, enabling precise imaging and sample analysis, especially in nanoparticle and fine structure studies.

Compatible and Reliable Support for Diverse Samples

These grids are engineered to support a wide range of biological and material specimens. Vacuum deposition ensures uniform film thickness and exceptional surface quality. The robust gold grid foundation provides additional chemical and mechanical stability, suiting both routine and high-demand laboratory applications.

Consistent Quality and Easy Handling

Every pack contains 25 individually manufactured grids, conforming to international standards for TEM supplies. Handling is safe and straightforward: simply use tweezers and gloves to avoid contamination. Their solid construction and indefinite shelf life guarantee reliable performance for extended research use.

FAQs of Lacey Carbon Films on 400 Mesh Gold (Pack of 25):

Q: How should Lacey Carbon Films on 400 Mesh Gold grids be stored to maintain quality?

A: Store these grids in dry conditions at room temperature, away from humidity, to preserve the films surface integrity and prevent contamination. They have an indefinite shelf life when stored properly.

Q: What benefits does the lacey carbon structure provide in TEM imaging?

A: The lacey mesh-like carbon film delivers high transparency and a low background, significantly reducing interference during electron microscopy. This structure is especially beneficial for observing nanoparticles and delicate samples with minimal support artifact.

Q: When is it recommended to use gold grids instead of other metals for TEM support films?

A: Gold grids are preferable when working with chemically reactive samples or when higher mechanical and chemical stability is required, as gold provides excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion.

Q: Where can these support films be purchased?

A: These Lacey Carbon Films on 400 Mesh Gold grids are available from authorized electron microscopy product distributors, suppliers, dealers, and via reputable online laboratory retailers in the United Kingdom.

Q: What is the process involved in manufacturing these lacey carbon films?

A: The films are produced by vacuum evaporation and deposition techniques, ensuring a uniform lacey structure and strong adhesion to the pure gold mesh grid.

Q: How do I handle these grids to avoid damaging the film?

A: Always use clean tweezers and wear gloves; avoid touching the film surface directly to prevent contamination or tearing of the thin carbon layer.

Q: What types of samples and applications are suitable for these grids?

A: They are highly compatible with both biological and materials science samples, making them well-suited for electron microscopy, nanoparticle characterization, and analytical laboratory research.
