Product Description

Lacey carbon films are similar to the holey carbon films in that they have open areas but because of the fine lacey mesh structure they offer a greater percentage of open area in comparison (see micrograph). They provide the thinnest possible support film while maintaining adequate strength and give practically no background interference in the TEM. As much of the specimen is unsupported, these films are appropriate for use where a structure free background is of importance. Lacey carbon films are particularly suitable for studying some nanotubes, acicular crystals and biological/materials specimens.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.

Lacey carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request.

Optimized for High-Resolution TEM Imaging

Engineered for cutting-edge transmission electron microscopy, these lacey carbon films on 300 mesh nickel grids offer an ultra-thin, stable support surface. Their uniform lacey structure minimizes background interference, enhancing your ability to perform high-resolution imaging and particle analysis. These grids are suitable for both material science and biological specimen examination.

High Purity and Compatibility

Made from high-purity carbon film and nickel mesh, each grid is produced to research-grade standards. With a standard size of 3.05 mm and 300 mesh, these grids are compatible with most TEM holders and are designed for use in laboratories worldwide, especially in demanding analytical and investigative contexts.

FAQs of Lacey Carbon Films on 300 Mesh Nickel (Pack of 50):

Q: How should Lacey Carbon Films on 300 Mesh Nickel be handled to prevent contamination or damage?

A: It is recommended to use fine forceps when handling these grids to avoid contamination and physical damage to the ultra-thin lacey carbon film. Touching the film directly or with inappropriate tools can compromise the performance during TEM analysis.

Q: What are the main benefits of using lacey carbon films on nickel grids for TEM applications?

A: Lacey carbon films provide a stable, low-background support ideal for high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. Their uniform distribution and high purity minimize interference, enabling clear imaging and accurate particle characterization, particularly in materials science and life sciences research.

Q: When should I consider using this product over other grid materials or mesh sizes?

A: Choose these grids when you need enhanced stability, high resolution, and minimal background levels. The 300 mesh nickel grids are suitable for most TEM holders and are preferred for sensitive analyses where grid stability and uniform support are critical.

Q: Where should these grids be stored for maximum shelf life and performance?

A: Store the grids in a dry, dust-free environment to maintain the integrity of the lacey carbon film and prevent contamination. Proper storage conditions ensure long-term usability and consistent results for your TEM analyses.

Q: What process is used to manufacture the lacey carbon film on nickel grids?

A: The lacey carbon film is typically deposited onto high purity nickel grids via physical vapor deposition or similar advanced techniques, resulting in an ultra-thin and uniform support suited for high-end analytical applications.

Q: How do I use these grids for TEM specimen preparation?

A: Carefully mount your specimen onto the lacey carbon film, ensuring minimal disturbance to the film structure. The grid can then be inserted into compatible TEM holders for high-resolution imaging and analysis.
