Product Description

Lacey carbon films are similar to the holey carbon films in that they have open areas but because of the fine lacey mesh structure they offer a greater percentage of open area in comparison (see micrograph). They provide the thinnest possible support film while maintaining adequate strength and give practically no background interference in the TEM. As much of the specimen is unsupported, these films are appropriate for use where a structure free background is of importance. Lacey carbon films are particularly suitable for studying some nanotubes, acicular crystals and biological/materials specimens.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.

Lacey carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request.

Optimal Support for Ultra-Thin TEM Samples

The lacey carbon film, with a typical thickness of less than 50 nm, provides robust yet delicate support for even the most fragile samples. Its unique structure minimizes background, enhancing contrast and image clarity during TEM analysis.

Laboratory Grade Quality and Compatibility

Each grid meets rigorous TEM laboratory standards and is compatible with most transmission electron microscope holders. The copper mesh features a 3.05 mm diameter and 300 mesh density, ensuring reliable and reproducible results for various scientific applications.

Safe, Stable, and Highly Durable

Made from inert, non-toxic materials, these films are odorless, tasteless, and stable across a broad range of conditions. Their indefinite shelf life and resistance to degradation ensure consistent performance, provided they are stored in a clean, dry environment.

FAQs of Lacey Carbon Films on 300 Mesh Copper Grids (Pack of 25):

Q: How should I handle and store Lacey Carbon Films on 300 Mesh Copper Grids?

A: Handle these grids using fine forceps to prevent damage or contamination, and avoid direct skin contact. Store them in a dry, clean environment to preserve the integrity of the films and grids for extended periods.

Q: What applications are these carbon-coated copper grids best suited for?

A: They are specifically designed to support ultra-thin samples in Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), providing minimal background for high-contrast imaging in scientific research and routine laboratory analysis.

Q: When should I use lacey carbon film versus other film types in TEM?

A: Lacey carbon films are ideal when you require minimal interference from the support structure, such as imaging very thin or delicate biological or material science samples. Choose them for applications that benefit from varied window sizes and enhanced electron transparency.

Q: Where can these grids be used and with which kinds of TEM holders?

A: They are compatible with most standard TEM holders due to their 3.05 mm diameter, making them suitable for use in both educational and research institutions worldwide, including the United Kingdom.

Q: What are the benefits of using high-purity lacey carbon films?

A: The high-purity, odorless, and inert nature of the films ensures negligible contamination, superior image clarity, and long-term stability, making them an excellent choice for accurate and reproducible results in TEM analysis.

Q: How are these grids manufactured and what standards do they meet?

A: These grids are produced to meet strict laboratory grade standards, utilizing custom product codes from each supplier. They consistently deliver high purity (>99%) and are classified as non-toxic, safe for laboratory use.

Q: What safety or environmental precautions are required when using these grids?

A: No special safety precautions are necessary, as the materials are non-toxic, inert, and not hazardous to the environment. Avoid physical damage to the films and store grids properly for best results.
