Product Description

Lacey carbon films are similar to the holey carbon films in that they have open areas but because of the fine lacey mesh structure they offer a greater percentage of open area in comparison (see micrograph). They provide the thinnest possible support film while maintaining adequate strength and give practically no background interference in the TEM. As much of the specimen is unsupported, these films are appropriate for use where a structure free background is of importance. Lacey carbon films are particularly suitable for studying some nanotubes, acicular crystals and biological/materials specimens.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.
Lacey carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request.

Engineered for Superior Electron Microscopy

With a robust gold mesh and a high-purity lacey carbon film, these grids deliver the stability and support needed to obtain fine structural imaging in both material science and biological specimen analysis. The hydrophilic, contaminant-free surface ensures sample integrity and superior electron transparency for optimal imaging resolution.

Versatile Support for Diverse TEM Applications

These lacey carbon films are compatible with both TEM and STEM platforms, facilitating flexible research workflows. Their non-toxic and odorless composition, coupled with resistance to most solvents, offers reliability for sensitive specimen preparation while guaranteeing user safety in laboratory environments.

FAQs of Lacey Carbon Films on 200 Mesh Gold (Pack of 50):

Q: How should Lacey Carbon Films on 200 Mesh Gold TEM grids be stored for optimal performance?

A: Store the grids in a dry, clean environment, minimizing exposure to dust or physical contact. Proper storage maintains the films hydrophilic surface and prevents contamination or mechanical damage.

Q: What is the primary benefit of using a lacey carbon film on a gold grid for microscopy?

A: The irregular, open structure of the lacey carbon film provides exceptional support while maximizing electron transparency, allowing for high-resolution imaging of various specimen types. The gold grid adds superior mechanical stability and chemical resistance.

Q: When are these grids most commonly used in research?

A: These TEM grids are widely used when high-purity, contaminant-free support is requiredparticularly in material science analyses and biological sample mounting for TEM and STEM studies.

Q: Where are these grid films typically applied in laboratory workflows?

A: They are employed during the specimen mounting phase in electron microscopy, providing a stable and transparent support surface for nanoscale imaging and analysis.

Q: What precautions should be taken during handling and usage?

A: Always handle grids with clean, non-metallic tweezers to avoid introducing contaminants or causing physical damage to the thin carbon film. Avoid touching the film directly and keep grids covered when not in immediate use.

Q: How does the surface cleanliness benefit microscopy experiments?

A: The hydrophilic, ultra-clean surface ensures minimal interference from organic contaminants, resulting in clear, high-contrast images and more reliable data acquisition.
