Product Description

Ultra-thin support films are carbon films with a removable Formvar backing on the opposite side of the grid. The Formvar is then removed by dipping insolvent and the pure carbon film remains. These films are stable under all EM operating conditions and can be used where the presence of a Formvar layer is not acceptable. As thin pure carbon films alone have the tendency to be more delicate than those with Formvar backing support they require more delicate handling during specimen preparation. Leaving the Formvar in place until sample preparation is complete ensures the carbon film remains intact.

These carbon films are available on 3.05mm dia copper grids.

Reliable Mechanical Stability and Adherence

Engineered through advanced vacuum deposition, this ultra-thin carbon film offers exceptional mechanical stability, remaining robust under electron beam exposure. Its excellent adherence to a variety of grid substratesincluding copper, nickel, gold, and molybdenumensures the film stays intact during sample preparation and imaging, leading to more consistent results.

Pristine Surface Cleanliness for Accurate Results

Produced in a controlled cleanroom environment, the film is atomically clean with minimized hydrocarbon contamination. This high degree of cleanliness is essential for achieving optimal clarity in high-resolution electron microscopy, making it ideal for imaging delicate ultrastructures such as single nanoparticles and biological macromolecules.

Versatile Across Electron Microscopy Applications

Designed to fit a wide range of EM grids, this analytical-grade ultra-thin carbon film enhances electron transparency and facilitates high-resolution imaging. It is ideal for TEM applications in research labs, academic institutions, and industrial analysis, supporting diverse samples with its continuous, uniform coverage.

FAQs of Ultra-thin carbon support film, 3nm:

Q: How is the 3nm ultra-thin carbon support film manufactured and why does it matter?

A: The film is produced using vacuum deposition in an ISO 9001:2015-certified cleanroom, ensuring atomically clean, uniform layers. This meticulous process reduces contamination, providing the pristine surface needed for high-resolution electron microscopy.

Q: What types of electron microscopy grids are compatible with this carbon support film?

A: Our ultra-thin carbon film adheres effectively to copper, nickel, gold, molybdenum, and other common EM grids, enabling versatile use across various experiments and microscopy setups.

Q: When should this support film be used for optimal imaging?

A: It is best utilized when imaging single nanoparticles or biological macromolecules that require high electron transparency and a clean, stable support to avoid background interference and distortion during analysis.

Q: Where should the carbon support films be stored to maintain their quality?

A: The films should be stored in their original protective grid storage box, in a dry and clean environment, to preserve their atomically clean surface and prevent contamination during the 12-month shelf life.

Q: What benefits does the ultra-thin 3nm carbon film offer over thicker alternatives?

A: Its high electron transparency and minimal background contribute to clearer images, while robust mechanical stability ensures integrity throughout sample preparation and imaging, making it ideal for high-resolution TEM work.

Q: How can users ensure optimal performance during electron microscopy?

A: Handle the film only with clean, compatible tools and minimize exposure to air and particulates. Proper storage and gentle mounting on EM grids will maintain both film cleanliness and structural integrity.

Q: Is the product safe and environmentally compliant for laboratory use?

A: Yes, the film is non-toxic, tasteless, odorless, RoHS compliant, and manufactured using environmentally responsible processes, guaranteeing both safe handling and regulatory compliance.
