Product Description

Quantifoil R3.5/1 Holey Carbon Films - Circular

Quantifoils, produced by semiconductor lithographic techniques, are 15 - 20nm thick perforated carbon films with precise, well defined hole sizes, shapes and arrays. Quantifoil support films provide a high percentage of open area in addition to minimising total specimen thickness. Object distortions arising from interactions with the support film are also reduced. They are particularly suited for cryo applications, tomography and low dose microscopy (LEEP).

Circular hole, size 3.5m dia, separation 1m, pitch 4.5m.

Quantifoil type: R3.5/1

Quantifoils are supplied as 10 grids in a grid box.

Precision for Electron Microscopy

Quantifoil R3.5/1 Holey Carbon Films deliver consistent hole distribution and high electron transparency, optimizing imaging quality for cryo-EM and TEM research. Their robust carbon membranes support sensitive samples, accommodating rigorous analytical requirements while minimizing background noise and sample drift.

Designed for Reliability and Versatility

Supplied pre-mounted on circular TEM grids and compatible with multiple grid metals, these films are trusted in both academic and industry laboratories. Their stable matrix ensures performance over a wide temperature range, while their resistance to water and solvents makes them easy to handle and store for extended periods without degradation.

FAQs of Quantifoil R3.5/1 Holey Carbon Films - Circular:

Q: How are Quantifoil R3.5/1 Holey Carbon Films applied in electron microscopy?

A: These films are used as supporting substrates for biological or material specimens during transmission electron microscopy (TEM) or cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), aiding sample stability and minimizing background interference.

Q: What benefits do the uniform 3.5 m holes and 1 m spacing offer?

A: This precise grid pattern ensures even sample support and optimal electron transparency, reducing charging and improving the clarity and resolution of acquired images.

Q: When should Quantifoil R3.5/1 films be selected for sample preparation?

A: They are ideal for high-resolution TEM or cryo-EM projects whenever minimal contamination, uniform support, and consistent imaging conditions are required.

Q: Where can these circular carbon films be used?

A: They are suitable for any standard TEM grid slot in research, diagnostic, or educational facilities, as well as for various materials science applications.

Q: What is the process for mounting these carbon films on TEM grids?

A: The films are supplied pre-mounted on grids, eliminating manual mounting steps; users simply remove them from the grid box and proceed with specimen deposition.

Q: How does the carbon films high purity and stability benefit users?

A: Its >99.9% purity and resilience from cryogenic to ambient temperatures ensure sample integrity, prevent undesirable chemical reactions, and allow consistent results across challenging conditions.

Q: What are the storage recommendations for Quantifoil carbon films?

A: To maintain surface quality and longevity, store the grids in a dry environment, ensure the grid box is tightly closed, and avoid any contact with moisture or contaminants.
