Product Description

Quantifoil R1.2/1.3 Holey Carbon Films - Circular

Quantifoils®, produced by semiconductor lithographic techniques, are 15 - 20nm thick perforated carbon films with precise, well defined hole sizes, shapes and arrays. Quantifoil support films provide a high percentage of open area in addition to minimising total specimen thickness. Object distortions arising from interactions with the support film are also reduced. They are particularly suited for cryo applications, tomography and low dose microscopy (LEEP).

Circular hole, size 1.2µm dia, separation 1.3µm, pitch 2.5µm

Quantifoil type: R1.2/1.3

Quantifoils are supplied as 10 grids or 100 grids in a grid box.

High-Quality Support for EM Applications

Quantifoil R1.2/1.3 grids are tailored for high-resolution TEM and cryo-EM workflows. Their regular hole pattern and thin amorphous carbon film ensure consistent sample support while maximizing electron transparency, making them indispensable for biological and material science researchers requiring reliable imaging performance.

Versatile Compatibility and Customization

With grid material options (copper, gold, nickel) and mesh counts (200, 300, or custom), these grids suit a broad spectrum of electron microscopy needs. Optional hydrophilization (glow discharge) and various packaging formats further enhance adaptability for specialized laboratory protocols.

FAQs of Quantifoil R1.2/1.3 Holey Carbon Films - Circular:

Q: How should Quantifoil R1.2/1.3 Holey Carbon Films be stored for long-term use?

A: Store these grids in a dry, dust-free environment at room temperature. When properly stored in anti-static packaging, they offer indefinite shelf life without loss of quality.

Q: What are the main advantages of using Quantifoil R1.2/1.3 grids in cryo-EM studies?

A: These grids provide a highly uniform, electron-transparent support, reducing background noise and facilitating optimal visualization of macromolecules and thin samples in cryo-electron microscopy.

Q: When is surface treatment, such as hydrophilization, recommended for Quantifoil grids?

A: Hydrophilization, performed via glow discharge, is recommended before sample application if enhanced wettability is needed, particularly for biological samples that require uniform spreading.

Q: Where can Quantifoil R1.2/1.3 grids be sourced or supplied in the United Kingdom?

A: They are available from authorized dealers, exporters, importers, manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, traders, and wholesalers operating throughout the United Kingdom.

Q: What process is used to clean or prepare Quantifoil grids before sample deposition?

A: Grids can be glow-discharged to render the surface hydrophilic. For specific protocols, follow the recommended cleaning steps to ensure optimal sample adherence and imaging results.

Q: What benefit does the regular hole array pattern offer in single particle analysis?

A: The precisely arranged circular holes minimize sample movement, improve particle distribution, and enhance contrast, which are essential for high-resolution single particle reconstruction in TEM.
