Product Description

Lacey carbon films are similar to the holey carbon films in that they have open areas but because of the fine lacey mesh structure they offer a greater percentage of open area in comparison (see micrograph). They provide the thinnest possible support film while maintaining adequate strength and give practically no background interference in the TEM. As much of the specimen is unsupported, these films are appropriate for use where a structure free background is of importance. Lacey carbon films are particularly suitable for studying some nanotubes, acicular crystals and biological/materials specimens.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.

Lacey carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request.

Precision Support for High-Resolution TEM

These lacey carbon films mounted on nickel H7 finder grids are optimized for demanding TEM applications, ensuring superior sample stability and minimizing interference. The well-defined lacey pattern provides an ideal balance of support and open area, suited for particle analysis, cellular imaging, and nano-material characterization.

Nickel H7 Finder Grid: Enhanced Sample Alignment

With indexed labeling, the nickel H7 finder grid allows efficient sample locating, retrieval, and orientation during imaging. The metallic grey, durable nickel substrate meets standard TEM grid preparation requirements and is highly compatible with most electron microscopy holders.

Long-Term Storage and Handling

Store grids in a dry, dust-free environment at ambient temperatures for an indefinite shelf life. Use clean forceps for handling to avoid contaminating or damaging the ultrathin lacey carbon film. Sturdy grid construction ensures the structure remains intact through standard laboratory procedures.

FAQs of Lacey Carbon Films on H7 finder grid. Nickel (Pack of 25):

Q: How should I handle and store Lacey Carbon Films on H7 finder grids to maintain quality?

A: Always use clean forceps when handling these grids to prevent contamination and avoid physical contact with the lacey carbon film surface. Store the grids in a dry, dust-free environment at room temperature to maintain an indefinite shelf life and protect their integrity.

Q: What are the main benefits of using H7 finder grids with lacey carbon film in TEM applications?

A: These grids offer an optimal combination of sample stability, minimal background interference, and easy sample alignment, thanks to the indexed H7 finder design. The ultrathin lacey carbon film enables high contrast imaging while supporting delicate samples, making them ideal for advanced research and particle analysis.

Q: When is it appropriate to use lacey carbon film on nickel grids for sample preparation?

A: Lacey carbon film on nickel grids is recommended whenever high-resolution electron microscopy is required, such as in material science, life sciences, nanotechnology, or particle morphology studies. Their structure provides the necessary support for particles and cells while allowing clear, detailed imaging.

Q: Where can I use these grids, and are they compatible with standard TEM holders?

A: These grids are designed for use in most TEM instruments and are compatible with standard 3.05 mm TEM holders. Their widespread compatibility makes them suitable for use in research laboratories, universities, and analytical facilities.

Q: What is the typical process for mounting samples onto the lacey carbon film grids?

A: Carefully deposit your sample onto the film using a micropipette or by dipping the grid into a suspension. Allow the sample to air dry completely before imaging. Always ensure the sample is well-dispersed on the film to maximize imaging results and minimize sample overlap.

Q: Is there any specific advantage to the nickel material used for the H7 finder grid?

A: Nickel provides robust mechanical strength, chemical stability, and compatibility with a range of microscopy techniques. Its metallic grey appearance and high melting point offer durability while minimizing sample interaction.
