Product Description

Lacey carbon films are similar to the holey carbon films in that they have open areas but because of the fine lacey mesh structure they offer a greater percentage of open area in comparison (see micrograph). They provide the thinnest possible support film while maintaining adequate strength and give practically no background interference in the TEM. As much of the specimen is unsupported, these films are appropriate for use where a structure free background is of importance. Lacey carbon films are particularly suitable for studying some nanotubes, acicular crystals and biological/materials specimens.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.
Lacey carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request.

Exceptional Conductivity and Chemical Inertness

Manufactured from pure gold, these H7 finder grids possess outstanding conductivity and show minimal reactivity, minimizing background signals and interference during TEM analysis. The gold substrate enhances sample stability and reduces contamination, providing reliable supports for precision imaging.

Lacey Carbon Film for High-Resolution Imaging

The ultra-thin (2030 nm) lacey carbon film forms an electron-transparent, porous matrix over each grid, optimizing both visibility and support for delicate specimens. This design is especially beneficial for high-resolution imaging of nanoparticles, proteins, and other sensitive structures in TEM.

Convenient Indexed Navigation with H7 Finder Grid

Each H7 finder grid comes with clear indexing marks, simplifying specimen location and relocation during microscopy. This feature helps researchers track and document regions of interest with ease and precision across multiple samples or sessions.

FAQs of Lacey Carbon Films on H7 finder grid. Gold (Pack of 25):

Q: How are Lacey Carbon Films on H7 finder grids used in TEM specimen preparation?

A: These grids serve as robust supports for fragile specimens or particles in transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Simply place your sample on the lacey carbon film surface, allow it to dry, and load the grid into the TEM for imaging. The indexed H7 grid design aids in locating specific areas during analysis.

Q: What makes the H7 finder gold grid advantageous for electron microscopy?

A: Pure gold provides superior conductivity and chemical inertness, reducing charging and contamination issues during imaging. The H7 finder grids indexing allows for easy identification and revisiting of specimen regions, enhancing workflow in multi-stage TEM studies.

Q: When should I choose lacey carbon film over other support films?

A: Lacey carbon films are preferred when observing very small, particulate, or delicate specimens requiring minimal background interference and high electron transparency. The porous design offers excellent specimen support with minimal obstruction to transmitted electrons, making them ideal for high-resolution TEM.

Q: Where should these grids be stored to maintain quality?

A: Store the grids in the supplied grid box, placed in a dry, dust-free environment to avoid contamination and degradation. Proper storage preserves their indefinite shelf life and ensures consistent support film performance.

Q: What is the benefit of the highly conductive gold grid material?

A: The gold enhances electron flow, preventing specimen charging and improving imaging qualityespecially crucial for high-magnification or dose-sensitive applications. Its chemical stability also resists oxidation and interaction with most sample media.

Q: How thick is the lacey carbon film, and does it support electron transparency?

A: The lacey carbon film is approximately 2030 nm thick, providing high electron transparency ideal for high-resolution imaging of both biological and material science specimens.

Q: What kind of samples are these grids compatible with?

A: These TEM support grids are compatible with a broad spectrum of biological and material samples, including proteins, viruses, nanoparticles, and fine powders, ensuring versatility for various analytical applications.
