Product Description

Lacey carbon films are similar to the holey carbon films in that they have open areas but because of the fine lacey mesh structure they offer a greater percentage of open area in comparison (see micrograph). They provide the thinnest possible support film while maintaining adequate strength and give practically no background interference in the TEM. As much of the specimen is unsupported, these films are appropriate for use where a structure free background is of importance. Lacey carbon films are particularly suitable for studying some nanotubes, acicular crystals and biological/materials specimens.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.

Lacey carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request.

Superior Support for TEM Analysis

Lacey carbon films on H7 finder grids offer an optimal surface for preparing samples for Transmission Electron Microscopy. By minimizing background interference, these grids help researchers achieve enhanced imaging quality for both biological and material science specimens. The thin, electron-transparent carbon coating ensures accurate, high-resolution observation while maintaining sample integrity.

Reliable, Indexed Finder Grid Design

Each H7 finder grid features numbered and indexed markings, simplifying the process of locating and returning to specific sample regions during examination. This precision benefits workflow, saves time, and is especially useful in studies requiring detailed sample mapping or repeated imaging.

High-Quality Materials and Construction

Manufactured from pure copper and high-purity carbon, these grids deliver robust mechanical stability and chemical inertness. With a melting point of 1085C for copper and carbon coating purity exceeding 99.99%, they meet or exceed international laboratory standards, ensuring dependable performance in demanding TEM applications.

FAQs of Lacey Carbon Films on H7 finder grid. Copper (Pack of 50):

Q: How should Lacey Carbon Films on H7 finder grids be stored to maintain quality?

A: It is recommended to store the grids in a clean, dry environment, away from contaminants and dust, to preserve the electron-transparent carbon coating and prevent unwanted residues or corrosion.

Q: What are the main benefits of using a finder grid with lacey carbon film for TEM?

A: The combination provides a minimal background for high-resolution imaging while the indexed H7 finder grid enables precise location and recollection of sample areas, streamlining mapping and repeat examinations.

Q: When should I use Lacey Carbon Films on H7 finder grids in my microscopy workflow?

A: These grids are ideal for initial sample screening, high-resolution imaging, and any application where accurate sample positioning and minimal interference are crucial, including both materials and life sciences TEM studies.

Q: Where are these grids compatible in terms of instrumentation?

A: Lacey carbon films on 3.05 mm copper grids are compatible with most standard TEM holders, making them suitable for use in most electron microscopy laboratories worldwide.

Q: What is the process for preparing a TEM sample using these grids?

A: Typically, the sample is deposited onto the carbon-facing side of the grid. Allow the sample to dry, then place the prepared grid into the appropriate TEM holder for imaging. Handle with clean, anti-static tweezers for best results.

Q: Can these grids be used with water or organic solvents?

A: Yes, the grids are insoluble in water and most solvents, making them suitable for various biological and material science preparations, though care should be taken to avoid chemical exposure that could damage the sample or film.

Q: What precautions should I take when handling these grids?

A: Use clean, non-metal tweezers and wear gloves to avoid introduces contaminants or mechanical damage to the thin lacey carbon film. Handle by the edge of the grid to preserve the films electron transparency.
