Product Description

Lacey carbon films are similar to the holey carbon films in that they have open areas but because of the fine lacey mesh structure they offer a greater percentage of open area in comparison (see micrograph). They provide the thinnest possible support film while maintaining adequate strength and give practically no background interference in the TEM. As much of the specimen is unsupported, these films are appropriate for use where a structure free background is of importance. Lacey carbon films are particularly suitable for studying some nanotubes, acicular crystals and biological/materials specimens.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.
Lacey carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request.

Superior Support for TEM Applications

Lacey Carbon Films on 300 Mesh Gold grids provide an optimal platform for transmission electron microscopy. The thin, web-like carbon structure offers excellent sample support while allowing high electron transparency, enabling high-resolution imaging of fine details. Their robust gold mesh base ensures mechanical strength and chemical inertness, making them suitable for sensitive and high-purity applications in research institutions and laboratories across the United Kingdom.

Microscopy Grade Quality and Durability

Manufactured to microscopy-grade standards, each grid features pure gold mesh and carbon films free from binding agents. This guarantees reliability, durability, and consistent results in electron microscopy. With their outstanding vacuum compatibility and resistance to degradation, the grids maintain performance over an indefinite shelf life, making them ideal for both long-term storage and immediate experimental use.

FAQs of Lacey Carbon Films on 300 Mesh Gold (Pack of 50):

Q: How should Lacey Carbon Films on 300 Mesh Gold be handled and stored?

A: These grids should be handled with clean, non-metallic forceps in a controlled, dust-free environment, and stored in a dry area to prevent contamination or damage. Proper handling ensures the carbon film remains intact and free from particles.

Q: What is the primary benefit of using a lacey carbon film on a gold mesh grid for TEM?

A: Lacey carbon films provide excellent specimen support with minimal background interference, while the gold mesh ensures mechanical stability and chemical inertness. This combination enhances imaging quality and reliability in TEM sample preparation.

Q: When are these grids most commonly used in laboratory settings?

A: These grids are most commonly used during the sample preparation stage for transmission electron microscopy, particularly when examining ultrafine or fragile specimens that require minimal background and strong support.

Q: Where are these grids manufactured and distributed?

A: These grids comply with laboratory standards and are available from dealers, suppliers, and wholesalers in the United Kingdom, serving export, import, and local laboratory needs.

Q: What is the recommended process for using these TEM grids?

A: Carefully deposit your sample onto the carbon-coated side of the grid, allow it to dry or fix as needed, and then place it into the TEM holder for imaging. Always avoid touching the film surface directly to preserve its integrity.

Q: How long can these grids be stored, and do they have a shelf life?

A: The grids have an indefinite shelf life as long as they are kept in a dry, dust-free environment, since both gold and carbon are robust and resistant to degradation under proper conditions.

Q: What applications benefit most from these Lacey Carbon Films on Gold grids?

A: Applications involving sensitive or particulate samples in transmission electron microscopy benefit greatly, as these grids support delicate structures, offering minimal background and high imaging clarity for research and industrial laboratories.
