Product Description

Lacey carbon films are similar to the holey carbon films in that they have open areas but because of the fine lacey mesh structure they offer a greater percentage of open area in comparison (see micrograph). They provide the thinnest possible support film while maintaining adequate strength and give practically no background interference in the TEM. As much of the specimen is unsupported, these films are appropriate for use where a structure free background is of importance. Lacey carbon films are particularly suitable for studying some nanotubes, acicular crystals and biological/materials specimens.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.
Lacey carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request.

Superior Imaging for TEM Applications

Lacey Carbon Films on 300 Mesh Gold provide an ultrathin, semi-transparent lacey carbon support ideal for high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The gold mesh offers excellent mechanical support and high conductivity, ensuring optimal sample imaging and minimizing background interference. Laboratory-grade purity ensures accurate, reproducible analytical results.

Durable, Reliable Support Structure

Built on a 300 mesh gold grid, these films are resistant to melting and deformation even under the demanding conditions of TEM analysis. The finely engineered lacey carbon layer delivers mechanical stability while maintaining minimal interference with your specimens. Each grid is precisely manufactured for uniform support and consistent performance across all 25 units in the pack.

Safe Handling and Storage Guidelines

For best results, handle each grid with clean tweezers to avoid contaminating the surface. Avoid direct contact with fingers. Store grids in a clean, dry environment to maintain their ultrathin structure and prevent contamination. Their insoluble and non-toxic properties make them easy and safe to store and handle in any laboratory setting.

FAQs of Lacey Carbon Films on 300 Mesh Gold (Pack of 25):

Q: How should I handle and store Lacey Carbon Films on 300 Mesh Gold grids?

A: Always use clean tweezers when handling these grids, avoiding direct contact to prevent contamination. Store them in a dry, clean environment to preserve their ultrathin lacey carbon film and avoid exposure to dust or moisture.

Q: What benefits does the gold mesh provide over traditional copper grids?

A: The gold mesh offers superior chemical inertness, high electrical conductivity, and enhanced stability, reducing the risk of corrosion or artifacts, which is especially important for highly sensitive or prolonged TEM imaging.

Q: Where can these lacey carbon grids be used?

A: These grids are designed for use in transmission electron microscopy (TEM) laboratories and are compatible with most standard TEM holders, making them suitable for research, academic, and industrial electron microscopy applications.

Q: What is the typical process for preparing samples on these grids?

A: Specimens are gently deposited onto the lacey carbon film with minimal disturbance, allowed to dry as required, and then placed into the TEM holder for imaging. The ultrathin carbon layer provides clear contrast and strong support during observation.

Q: When should I choose lacey carbon film grids for my TEM applications?

A: Lacey carbon film grids are ideal when working with small or fragile samples that require optimal electron transparency and minimal background interference, such as nanoparticles, biological molecules, or polymers.

Q: What makes these grids highly suitable for laboratory use?

A: Manufactured from ultra-high purity carbon and gold, these grids ensure reliable, consistent quality, meet international TEM grid standards, and pose no toxicity hazard, supporting dependable results in a laboratory environment.
