Product Description

Lacey carbon films are similar to the holey carbon films in that they have open areas but because of the fine lacey mesh structure they offer a greater percentage of open area in comparison (see micrograph). They provide the thinnest possible support film while maintaining adequate strength and give practically no background interference in the TEM. As much of the specimen is unsupported, these films are appropriate for use where a structure free background is of importance. Lacey carbon films are particularly suitable for studying some nanotubes, acicular crystals and biological/materials specimens.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.

Lacey carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request.

Optimized Structure for High-Resolution TEM

Featuring a lacey mesh pattern and thin carbon film, these grids maximize sample visibility and distribution during transmission electron microscopy. The ultra-fine structure ensures minimal interference with specimen observation, resulting in clear, high-resolution imaging for diverse applications.

Reliable Packaging and Longevity

Packaged in anti-static grid boxes, these grids remain contaminant-free and maintain their integrity over long-term storage. With indefinite shelf life when stored in a dry, dust-free environment, researchers benefit from dependable support grids that are always ready for microscopy use.

Ease of Handling and Compatibility

Designed for TEM applications, the grids are compatible with standard laboratory practices and equipment. They are best handled with ultra-fine forceps to avoid contamination, ensuring precise and reliable sample mounting for repeated use across various research fields.

FAQs of Lacey Carbon Films on 200 Mesh Copper Grids (Pack of 50):

Q: How should I handle Lacey Carbon TEM grids to avoid contamination?

A: It is recommended to use ultra-fine forceps and gloves while manipulating the grids. Always work in a clean-room or dust-free environment to prevent contamination or damage to the thin carbon film.

Q: What benefits does the lacey carbon mesh provide for TEM imaging?

A: The lacey carbon mesh offers optimal specimen distribution, minimal background signal, and enhanced visibility for high-resolution TEM imaging, benefiting biological and materials analysis.

Q: Where should I store the grids for maximum shelf life?

A: Store the grids in their original anti-static grid box within a dry, dust-free environment to ensure indefinite shelf life and maintain the high purity of the carbon film.

Q: When is it appropriate to use these grids in my microscopy workflow?

A: These grids are intended for sample support during Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) preparations and imaging, suitable for biological, materials, and nanotechnology research projects.

Q: What process is used to coat the copper grids with lacey carbon film?

A: The carbon films are applied via vacuum deposition, resulting in a uniform, thin coating that forms a lacey mesh on the copper substrate.

Q: What is the thickness of the carbon film on these grids?

A: The lacey carbon film on each grid typically ranges from 10 to 30 nanometers in thickness, ensuring minimal interference with sample imaging.

Q: Are these grids compatible with all TEM systems?

A: Yes, these grids adhere to microscopy laboratory standards and are compatible with most Transmission Electron Microscopes used in research laboratories.
