Product Description

Holey carbon films have many uses in microscopy but for certain applications the mesh sizes of standard TEM grids are too large to support the sample. Continuous carbon films can also be a problem due to the fact that the thin film can inelastically scatter electrons and contribute to background noise. Holey carbon films therefore are a suitable alternative.
Holey carbon films have holes of various sizes up to 100m. In addition to providing support, the increased image contrast in the regions of the holes compared to regions of film is also of benefit. Typical applications include biological and materials science and cryo-TEM.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.
Holey carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request.

Superior Support for High-Resolution TEM

The holey carbon film provides a stable, nearly transparent background, minimizing interference during imaging. With holey regions designed for effective specimen support, these grids are suitable for challenging samples in biological or materials science research. Both grid and film are manufactured from high-purity materials, ensuring structural integrity and analytical performance for your TEM work.

Convenient and Ready for Immediate Use

Each pack includes 25 copper grids, each pre-cleaned and handled under controlled conditions to maintain ultraclean surfaces. The grids are standard 3.05 mm in diameter with 300 mesh copper structure, making them fully compatible with most conventional TEM holders. The format simplifies sample preparation for routine or advanced studies.

FAQs of Holey Carbon Films on 300 Mesh Copper Grids (Pack of 25):

Q: How are Holey Carbon Films on 300 Mesh Copper Grids used in TEM applications?

A: These grids serve as support films for high-resolution TEM imaging, providing perforated areas for stable placement of biological or material science specimens. They minimize background interference and are ideal for particle analysis and cryo-TEM due to the thin holey carbon layer.

Q: What are the benefits of using perforated (holey) carbon films on TEM grids?

A: Holey carbon films enhance imaging contrast by providing empty spaces and minimal film interference. This design enables users to obtain clearer, high-resolution images of samples, which is crucial for detailed structural and particle analysis.

Q: When should I choose a 300 mesh copper grid for my experiments?

A: A 300 mesh provides a versatile grid spacing that balances specimen support and open viewing area. It is recommended for most standard biological and materials TEM studies, especially where high-resolution detail and reliable support are required.

Q: Where should I store these holey carbon TEM grids to maintain quality?

A: Store the grids in a clean, dry environment to prevent contamination or oxidation. The pre-cleaned surfaces are ready to use, but proper storage ensures consistent performance during sensitive TEM imaging.

Q: What processing or preparation is needed before using these grids?

A: No additional cleaning or treatment is necessary. The grids are supplied pre-cleaned and ready to use straight from the pack, allowing immediate sample application and insertion into TEM holders.

Q: How does the compatibility of these grids benefit laboratory workflows?

A: Their standard 3.05 mm diameter and 300 mesh structure ensure compatibility with most TEM holders, streamlining integration into existing workflows and eliminating concerns about fit or adaptation.
