Product Description

Holey carbon films have many uses in microscopy but for certain applications the mesh sizes of standard TEM grids are too large to support the sample. Continuous carbon films can also be a problem due to the fact that the thin film can inelastically scatter electrons and contribute to background noise. Holey carbon films therefore are a suitable alternative. Holey carbon films have holes of various sizes up to 100m. In addition to providing support, the increased image contrast in the regions of the holes compared to regions of film is also of benefit. Typical applications include biological and materials science and cryo-TEM.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.

Holey carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on requesT.

Exceptional Specimen Support for TEM

Our holey carbon films offer a stable and uniform support platform, essential for observing ultrathin sections and sensitive materials in Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). The perforated carbon film design enables high electron transmission and outstanding contrast, facilitating detailed sample observation while minimizing beam-induced damage.

High Purity Materials and Rigorous Quality Control

Each grid is crafted from high purity nickel and carbon, designed to strict laboratory standards to ensure reproducibility and reliability. Our quality assurance procedures involve thorough individual inspection and packaging under clean, dust-free conditions. Lot traceability is available upon request for enhanced confidence in your experimental results.

Convenient Handling and Long-Term Storage

Convenience in use and storage is prioritized through individually packed grids, with clear guidance to handle with anti-static tweezers in a contamination-free environment. These grids are non-sterile but can be plasma cleaned prior to use and maintain indefinite shelf life if kept dry and clean, ready whenever needed for your research.

FAQs of Holey Carbon Films on 200 Mesh Nickel (Pack of 25):

Q: How should I handle and store the Holey Carbon Films on Nickel grids?

A: Grids must be handled with clean, anti-static tweezers to avoid contamination or damage to the perforated film. Store them in a clean, dry environment to maintain their quality, as they have an indefinite shelf life under proper storage conditions.

Q: What is the main benefit of using a 200 mesh holey carbon film on nickel for TEM?

A: The 200 mesh configuration combined with holey carbon film provides high electron transmission, superior image contrast, and minimal beam damage, making them ideal for supporting ultrathin sections or particulate samples in Transmission Electron Microscopy.

Q: When should I clean the grids before TEM applications?

A: It is advisable to plasma clean the grids immediately before use if sterility or the removal of residual contaminants is necessary. As supplied, they are not sterile but are clean and packed in dust-free conditions.

Q: Where can these grids be used and with which equipment?

A: These grids are compatible with all standard TEM holders, making them versatile for use in any electron microscopy laboratory adhering to conventional equipment standards.

Q: What process is used to ensure the grids quality and traceability?

A: Each grid undergoes individual inspection and is packed in a dust-free environment to ensure defect-free quality. Lot traceability can be provided upon request, supporting stringent laboratory documentation needs.

Q: How does the holey carbon film improve observation in electron microscopy?

A: The perforated nature of the film allows electrons to pass through efficiently, boosting image clarity and contrast. It also reduces background noise, essential for the accurate analysis of delicate or thin specimens.
