Product Description

These thin cast films of Formvar have been strengthened with the addition of a layer of evaporated carbon on nickel grids. The composite films have extra resilience and strength compared with carbon films. They are recommended for use where the grid has to undergo several processing steps during specimen preparation.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.

Formvar carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request.

Exceptional Material and Design

Each Formvar/Carbon on Nickel grid is fabricated using high-purity nickel and a thin, ultra-flat carbon/formvar film, providing superior support for delicate samples. The precise 300 mesh structure ensures uniform sample distribution, while the carbon-laminated surface offers outstanding electrical conductivity and minimises background noise in imaging.

Versatile Application in Electron Microscopy

These grids are an industry-standard choice for electron microscopy (TEM), accommodating a broad range of specimens including biological tissue sections and nanomaterial samples. Their robustness supports both routine analysis and advanced research, fitting seamlessly into various laboratory protocols.

Reliable Performance and Storage

Vacuum-deposited carbon and meticulously cast Formvar films deliver unmatched grid stability. Proper storage at room temperature in dry conditions ensures a shelf life exceeding two years. This reliability makes the grids a staple for laboratories seeking consistent and reproducible TEM results.

FAQs of Formvar/Carbon on 300 Mesh Nickel (Pack of 50):

Q: How are Formvar/Carbon on 300 Mesh Nickel grids manufactured?

A: These grids are produced using vacuum deposition to coat high-purity nickel grids with a thin carbon layer, followed by precision-casting of a Formvar film, resulting in a stable, ultra-flat support with excellent electrical conductivity.

Q: What types of samples are suitable for these grids?

A: Formvar/Carbon on Nickel grids are ideal for supporting both biological and material science samples in transmission electron microscopy (TEM), making them versatile for various research and analytical needs.

Q: When should I use 300 mesh grids over other mesh sizes?

A: A 300 mesh grid offers a balance between sample support and viewing area, making it suitable for applications that require both stability and sufficient open area for optimal TEM imaging.

Q: Where can I use these grids in the laboratory setting?

A: These grids are compatible with most electron microscopes and are a standard laboratory consumable across biological, physical, and material science laboratories worldwide, including those following ASTM/ISO protocols.

Q: What is the recommended storage condition for maintaining grid quality?

A: Store the grids at room temperature in a dry place, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Under these conditions, their shelf life typically exceeds two years without degradation.

Q: How do these grids benefit electron microscopy processes?

A: The ultra-flat, high-purity Formvar/Carbon film minimises imaging background and ensures stable, artefact-free support, enhancing the clarity and reliability of TEM observations for both routine and advanced analytical tasks.

Q: Are these grids safe to handle and environmentally neutral?

A: Yes, the grids are non-poisonous, odorless, and inert, posing no significant health or environmental risks under standard laboratory use.
