Product Description

These thin cast films of Formvar have been strengthened with the addition of a layer of evaporated carbon on nickel grids. The composite films have extra resilience and strength compared with carbon films. They are recommended for use where the grid has to undergo several processing steps during specimen preparation.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.

Formvar carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request

Superior Support for TEM Applications

Designed for Transmission Electron Microscopy, these nickel grids provide an optimal support structure for particle imaging and sample analysis. The smooth, burr-free grid edges and continuous Formvar/Carbon film enable enhanced image resolution, ensuring consistent results in diverse research and laboratory environments.

High Purity and Uniformity

Made from 99.9% pure nickel, high-quality Formvar, and carbon, these grids guarantee minimal impurities and high uniformity. The hexagonal mesh and dual-layer coating support robust sample placement, facilitating reliable observation of nanomaterials and biological specimens.

Reliable Performance and Storage

Engineered to withstand TEM operational temperatures up to ~200C, each grid maintains its properties under demanding laboratory conditions. The grids should be stored in a dry, inert atmosphere to retain integrity; with proper handling, the shelf life extends to 12 months.

FAQs of Formvar/Carbon Films on H7 Nickel Grids (Pack of 50):

Q: How should the Formvar/Carbon films on H7 nickel grids be handled to prevent damage or contamination?

A: Handle the grids exclusively with clean tweezers, avoiding direct contact with fingers. Protect the film from mechanical stress and exposure to contaminants to maintain sample integrity.

Q: What makes these nickel grids suitable for Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM)?

A: Their continuous, high-uniformity Formvar/Carbon films, precise H7 hexagonal mesh structure, and smooth, burr-free edges provide stable specimen support and consistent imaging in TEM applications.

Q: When is it appropriate to use these grids in laboratory analysis?

A: Use these grids for TEM sample preparation and particle imaging whenever high-resolution, analytical-grade support is required. They are suitable for diverse nanomaterial or biological samples in research and quality control.

Q: Where should the pack of Formvar/Carbon-coated nickel grids be stored for optimal preservation?

A: Store the grids in a dry, inert atmosphere, away from moisture and physical damage. Appropriate storage will help maintain the high uniformity and integrity of the films throughout their 12-month shelf life.

Q: What is the manufacturing process for these laboratory grids?

A: The nickel grids are electroformed before being coated with Formvar by spin coating and then with carbon via vacuum coating, ensuring smoothness and film consistency across the mesh.

Q: How does the dual-layer support film benefit TEM analysis?

A: Formvar serves as the robust base film, providing mechanical support for samples, while the conductive carbon layer enhances electron conductivity and image contrast, improving observation quality during TEM analysis.
