Product Description

Holey carbon films have many uses in microscopy but for certain applications the mesh sizes of standard TEM grids are too large to support the sample. Continuous carbon films can also be a problem due to the fact that the thin film can inelastically scatter electrons and contribute to background noise. Holey carbon films therefore are a suitable alternative. Holey carbon films have holes of various sizes up to 100m. In addition to providing support, the increased image contrast in the regions of the holes compared to regions of film is also of benefit. Typical applications include biological and materials science and cryo-TEM.

Supplied as 25 or 50 grids in a grid box.

Holey carbon support films can be applied to other grid sizes, material or type. Further details available on request.

Precision Support for Electron Microscopy

These Holey Carbon Films on H7 Finder Nickel Grids are engineered for demanding electron microscopy investigations, offering high transparency and minimal background interference. The unique finder grid pattern allows for easy sample navigation and repeatable imaging, crucial for research and analytical applications.

High-Quality, Durable Materials

Constructed from high-purity nickel and coated with an ultra-thin (~2030 nm) holey carbon film, these grids withstand high temperatures and maintain structural integrity throughout rigorous sample preparation and analysis. The non-porous and insoluble nature of the materials ensures consistent performance.

Safe and Convenient Handling

Packaged in secure grid storage boxes, each set contains 50 clean, ready-to-use grids. To maintain the films integrity, handle only with antistatic or clean tweezers. Proper storage in a dry, clean environment prolongs grid lifespan and preserves imaging quality.

FAQs of Holey Carbon Films on H7 Finder Grids Nickel (Pack of 50):

Q: How do I properly handle Holey Carbon Films on H7 Finder Nickel Grids?

A: Always use clean or antistatic tweezers to handle the grids, minimizing direct contact and preventing contamination or physical damage to the delicate holey carbon film.

Q: What is the main benefit of using a holey carbon film with a finder grid design?

A: The perforated holey carbon film increases electron transparency for high-resolution imaging, while the H7 finder pattern simplifies locating regions of interest, enabling efficient and reproducible analysis in TEM or SEM.

Q: When should I choose nickel grids over other materials like copper?

A: Nickel grids are preferable when higher mechanical strength or stability at elevated temperatures is required, as well as for analyses where nickel offers better chemical compatibility with certain samples or imaging conditions.

Q: Where should I store these grids to maintain their quality?

A: Store the grids in their original storage boxes within a clean, dry environment, away from dust, humidity, and potential contaminants to preserve both the nickel and carbon film properties.

Q: What processes are these grids suitable for in electron microscopy?

A: These grids serve as support films for high-resolution imaging, analytical measurements, and sample sectioning in both transmission and scanning electron microscopy, meeting EM laboratory standards for sample preparation.

Q: How do the structural features of these grids enhance electron microscopy imaging?

A: The regular circular holes within the thin carbon film reduce background interference and improve electron beam penetration, resulting in clearer imaging and enhanced contrast for sample analysis.
